A whopping 53 percent of employers prefer a hybrid workplace plan for their employees, which involves working from home and the office to varying degrees, according to a survey by Awfis. Saving time and cost, increasing convenience for employees and general employee wellbeing are top priorities for users as they seek to enable a distributed workplace strategy, the report said.
About 74 percent of users look to distributed workplaces as a strategy to move from location-centric to people-centric workplaces. The report says those telecom and consulting sectors see 75 to 100 percent of the return to the office. Meanwhile, the sectors with the lowest (0-25 percent) return are the IT and new technology workspace.
The report added that about 74 percent of users are likely to use distributed workplaces, while about 53 percent of users prefer working from home and in the office as their preferred workplace portfolio strategy. Furthermore, the report also claims that about 49 percent of users are likely to adopt flex centers to enable distributed workspace, followed by setting up their own offices in metro and non-metro cities.
“By putting employees first, 79 percent of users believe a distributed workplace strategy will be very helpful in saving time and money. In addition, work-life balance, mental well-being and team productivity are fostered when choosing flexible workplaces,” said Sumit Lakhani, Deputy CEO, Awfis.
“The research has made it clear that a distributed workplace strategy is the best choice for users in this new era of experiential workplaces as users emerge from the aftermath of the pandemic. Flex spaces in particular are leading this growth, as users from different sectors house teams in flex centers in cities. This shift in strategy is also reflected in flex operator leasing – flex operators rented approximately 3.5 million square feet of space in the six major cities in H1 2022, nearly three quarters of flex leasing in all of 2021,” said Ramesh Nair, Chief Executive civil servant.
Amit Ramani, Founder and CEO of Awfis, said: “The findings of the survey are a testament to the success of the distributed work model and then of flexible workspaces to meet the ever-changing needs for workplaces of India Inc. The survey reveals that currently 74 percent of users have chosen flex centers for their workspace needs, given the many benefits associated with flexible working. In the future, 77 percent of users will include flexi spaces in their workplace strategy. We expect exceptional demand in the future, largely driven by large companies for the densification of existing traditional offices.”
